  • Cydney Norberg, Royes Lumba and Sydney Sabin Juneau High School students, competed along with five other teams in the National Restaurant Association’s Pro Start Program competition in Anchorage.This program was administered by CHARR and was a collaboration of industry and students in the high school culinary arts programs.With the guidance of Kathleen Wiest, Thunder Mountain High School Culinary Foods Instructor and mentor Chef David Moorhead of the Baranof Hotel, the Juneau team won the competition. They competed in the National Pro Start Invitational competition in Kansas this spring.The Juneau/Lynn Canal Alcohol Beverage Retailers Association donated $1000.00 to help fund the team’s travels.
